Vancouver, BC (June 7, 2012): The first week of June holds great significance for the Sikh community as they commemorate and remember the victims of the week-long siege and invasion of the Darbar Sahib complex in 1984 by the Indian Army.
New York (June 06, 20102): As per information provided by Sikhs for Justice after unsuccessful attempt to challenge the jurisdiction of the US Federal Court to hear the Sikh Genocide case, Indian National Congress, the ruling party of India, now seeks dismissal of the claims filed by victims of November 1984 based on the lapse of 25 years. The May 29 motion by the Congress Party states that killing of Sikhs took in November 1984 and the victims filed the case in March 2011 when the statute of limitation had already expired.
Amritsar (June 05, 2012): The Dal Khalsa has come out with the third update edition of the directory of martyrs, who laid down their lives defending the Akal Takht during the brutal assault by the India army in June, 1984. The release of the directory, this time significantly coincides with the commencement of the Kar Sewa by the Damdami Taksal to raise the memorial to these very martyrs.
London, UK (June 04, 2012): The Sikhs in the UK is once again preparing to mark the anniversary of the June 1984 Indian army invasion of their holiest place of worship. Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple located in Amritsar, was invaded in an unprecedented Indian army action against the civilian population that resulted in massive casualties and wide spread human rights violations.
