AAP releases 3rd list of Candidates for LS Polls – Jaspal Bhatt’s wife gets ticket from Chandigarh

Chandigarh/ New Delhi, India (March 01, 2014): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its 3rd list of candidates for Lok Sabha polls on March 01. The list of 20 candidates includes Punjabi actress and comedian Savita Bhatti as party candidate for Chandigarh. She is the wife of celebrated comedian late Jaspal Bhatti.

The Chandigarh seat is at present represented by Pawan Bansal of Congress party who had to resign as Minister for Railways after the involvement of his nephew in a scam related to Railways.

Savita Bhatti had joined the Aam Aadmi Party. She filled in her membership form at her residence in sector-19 in Chandigarh on January 13. After joining the AAP she had said, “we have lived as Aam Aadmi and have also highlighted the corruption issues.” She added while joining the Aam Aadmi party, I feel Jaspal Bhatti, my husband is with me in this decision. We will continue carrying the tirade against corrpution and the legacy left by Jaspal Bhatti.

Anand Kumar, sociologist and professor in Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru university, will contest from North East Delhi, the seat represented by the Congress leader Jai Prakash Agarwal.

Mahendra Singh, a social activist will contest from North West Delhi, represented by union minister Krishna Tirath. The party also announced seven candidates each from Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, two from Kerala and one from Bihar.

Earlier, AAP had announced two lists of 20 and 30 candidates.
