Chandigarh: Punjab government has declared to revoke tax from multilingual movie ‘Char Sahibzaade’. Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, who also holds the portfolio of excise and taxation department, yesterday sanctioned tax-free status for ‘Char Sahibzade’. Punjabi version of the movie is being screened in Punjab. Char Sahibzaade is based on the lives and martyrdom of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
Sukhbir Badal said tax-free status to the religious movie had been given to help educate the present generation regarding the unparallelled and supreme sacrifice of the Char Sahibzade.
Sukhbir Badal claimed that Badal-BJP government had always encouraged Punjabi cinema that gave social and religious message for the uplift of society and would continue to encourage filmmakers to make movies on such subjects. He has issued orders to the excise and taxation commissioner to issue a notification in this regard with immediate effect.
