Chandigarh: Former leader of opposition and Aam Adami Party (AAP) MLA from Dakha Advocate H S Phoolka on Wednesday exposed a nexus in which 3 kg wheat was being pilfered from each of the PDS bags at a government-hired godown in Dakha in Ludhiana.
While giving the details about the aforesaid scam to the media persones in Chandigarh Press Club here on Wednesday the Dakha legislature stated that following a tip-off by an AAP team to the Ludhiana DC, at least 11 trained people were arrested while pilfering the wheat. He claimed it was being done with the connivance of the food inspector and other senior officials.
Around 6 Kg of wheat per person, meant for 1.42 crore beneficiaries, was being pilfered every year. This means wheat worth Rs 127 crore was being pilfered every year, Advocate H S Phoolka said.
Asking for immediate physical checking of all godowns, Phoolka urged CM Capt Amarinder singh to get the matter probed, notes The Tribune.
