Mukatsar Sahib: An incident of beadbi is reported from village Bhundar in Mukatsar Sahib district. The police have reportedly arrested two persons, including a woman, for committing beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib.

The accused, Charan Dass and his sister-in-law Sapna Rani, both residents of the same village, had tried to run away with the Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib on Sunday (April 22) evening. However, the granthi at the gurdwara thwarted their attempt.

The incident was caught on the CCTV cameras installed in the village. Later, the granthi lodged a police complaint.

According to a report in an English vernacular Gidderbaha DSP Rajpal Singh said, “During the preliminary investigation, it has come out that the accused were former followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda. They have been arrested.”

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has announced to form a panel to probe the incident. The committee includes SGPC’s executive committee member Navtej Singh Kauni, SGPC member Amrik Singh Kotshamir, Dhram Prachar Committee member Avtar Singh and under-secretary Simarjit Singh.
