Baghapurana, Moga: An Indian court in Baghapurana (Moga) today committed the chargesheet filed by Punjab police against arrested Scottish citizen Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi and others before the sessions court Moga.
On 27 April the police had submitted a chargrsheet against Taljit Singh alias Jimmy Singh, Jagtar Singh alias Jaggi, Remandeep Singh alias Bagga, Hardeep Singh alias Shera, Dharminder Singh alias Gugni, Anil alias Kala, Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi (Jammu), Harminder Singh Mintoo (deceased) and Tarlok Singh (on bail).
The next date of hearing was on 3 May but due to hearing of a case against these persons in NIA court Mohali the proceedings did not take place at Baghapurana court.
Today’s proceedings took place before Pushpinder Singh, Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Baghapurana. Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur and Advocate Mandeep Singh Channan received the copies of chargesheet as defence counsels. The arrested persons were presented from various jails through video conferencing. The case is now sent before the sessions court. The sessions court will hear the arguments about the charges on May 19.
Proceedings against Bhai Harminder Singh Mentioned were abrogated after taking taking notice of jail records regarding his death in Patiala jail last month.
Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said that chargesheet in case FIR Number 193/16 (PS Baghapurana) is filed under sections 25, 54, 59 Arms Act; 17, 18, 19, 20 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B IPC.
As per chargesheet which awaits judicial scrutiny, the police has also named Gursharanbir Singh (UK), Amritvir Singh (Rajasthan), Gurjinder Singh Shastri, Paramjeet Singh Pamma, Harmeet Singh PHD, Piara Singh alias Gilli (Wolverhampton, England), Lakhbir Singh Rode and Gurpreet Singh (Brampton, Canada).
