Amritsar: The marble slabs surrounding Dukh Bhanjani Beri have become a cause of concerns for the existence of centuries-old tree. Experts have advised the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) to remove slabs surrounding the Dukh Bhanjani Beri in order to ensure proper space and air for its roots.
Media reports have noted that the SGPC has begun ‘Kar Sewa’ for Dukh Bhanjani Beri to remove such slabs.
The other two beris- “Beri Baba Budha Sahib” and “Lachi Beri”, located with in the Darbar Sahib complex, do not have such hindrance as the concrete from their base was removed a few years back.
A “kar sewa”, being performed under Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale, was kicked off by the SGPC in the presence of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghubir Singh, Darbar Sahib’s head Granth Giani Jagtar Singh and the SGPC chief secretary Dr Roop Singh on Friday, notes a report in The Tribune (TT).
