Amritsar Blast Handiwork of Hidden Forces Aiming to Build Narrative to Harvest Electoral Dividends in 2019: Punjab Forum

November 20, 2018 | By

Chandigarh: In a joint statement issued today S. Gurtej Singh, Dr. Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon, Gen. Kartar Singh Gill, Gurpreet Singh, Khushhal Singh, Senior Journalist (retd.) Jaspal Singh and Surinder Singh Kishanpura said that the grenade blast at Nirankari Bhavan near Rajasansi in Amritsar was the handiwork of those hidden forces which were behind the 2017 Maur Mandi explosion aiming at building afresh the narrative of ‘revival of terrorism’ for harvesting electoral dividends in the coming 2019 Parliamentary polls.

Since 1947, Punjab has been the victim of ugly politics of hyper-nationalism that polarize the society on two communal lines making one section ‘extremely insecure and paranoid’ while dubbing the other as ‘anti-national’ to make them target of repression. As earlier, the media is lapping up the nationalistic discourse and is whipping up the induced and mischievous ‘narrative’ for its vested interests, the statement issued under the name of Punjab Forum Chandigarh reads.

The ever-overenthusiastic TV channels are telecasting the scripted programs ‘so it was and as such, it has come to pass.’ Many people remember on the authority of General Sinha and The Blitz of Bombay that the army invasion on the Darbar Sahib was finalized much before even the launching of the Dharamyudh from that location in August 1982, they added.

Sikh intellectuals and activists further said that the Chattisinghpura massacre of 39 Sikhs in the Kashmir Valley plus the four falsely accused Muslim young men just to hide the handiwork of ‘our brave soldiers’ on the behest of our then ‘beloved PM’ has not faded from the living memory.

They said that the beadbi of the Koran had not been investigated although the responsibility on the VHP and the mysterious funding for the crime had become crystal clear. It was given up to build a false narrative of Canadian Sikhs promoting disturbance in Punjab.

“We, who have seen hordes of police vigilante underground groups each with the licence to rob and kill, advise our countrymen not to be lead by the nose by the news anchors and their new paymasters. We appeal to the Media to pause a while and to become alive to the possibility of the new upcoming narrative being conjured up to damn the Sikhs for the grenade attack at Amritsar” the statement reads.

“The wine in the sky is not parajaat: it will not fetch votes in 2019 or relief to the guilty of Bargari, it will only kill thousands. There are some prophets of doom, who thrived on inciting Sikhs to rebellion thereby inviting repression and counter-retaliation; last Sunday came one step nearer to their goal of inciting unrest in the perfectly placid Punjab”, the statement reads futher.
