Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday (January 2) accused Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) for double speak on the issue of autonomy of the states with in the Indian union.
In a press statement issued from party headquarters, AAP chief spokesperson and MLA Baljinder Kaur said that Badals always claim to fight for true federalism but the fact is that they never raised the issue with their alliance partner BJP that is in power since 2104 at the union level. She said that Badals were more focused about grabbing the cabinet birth for Harsimrat Badal than asking BJP to grant autonomy to the states.
MLA Baljinder Kaur alleged that Badals have always backstabbed the Punjab and Punjabis for their personal gains. She said that Sukhbir Badal did not raise question over special package given to the hilly states while being minister in Vajpayee govt that led to the financial loss of Punjab had failed the state industry completely. She said that Badals must learn from TDP and other regional political parties to raise the voice of people of state.
Baljinder Kaur accused BJP of degrading the constitutional institutions and disgracing the constitution of India. She said that the centre has snatched the rights of states and the states have lost their dignity during Modi govt.
