Wisconsin, United States (December 23, 2012): According to the Link, a leading Indo-Canadian Newspaper, Amardeep Singh Kaleka and Pardeep Singh Kaleka, sons of Satwant Singh Kaleka, the Sikh Gurdwara president who was killed by a gunman in Sikh Temple (Gurdwara) in Oak Creek, Wisconsin in early August (2012), appear with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg at New York city hall to raise their voice for gun control.

Newtown shooting of children has raised an outcry among many to take stand on the rising gun violence in America. Kaleka also appealed on behalf of victims of the recent tragedies, “I write this with a heavy heart. This morning, another tragedy struck in Connecticut with nearly 30 people killed. 20 small children dead. Please Turn your anger, sadness, and disgust into positive action… I did. Send this message to those who want to wage peace. When our small children are not safe in school, swift and decisive measures must be taken.”

Dr. Rajwant Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education, said, “Gun control is an issue which cannot be ignored and we as a nation need to tackle this intelligently and deliberate upon it being mindful of the lives of so many who have been affected by violence. Gun control and mental health are the two critical issues upon we all must come together if we want to create a safe and healthy environment for all children in our nation.”
