Chandigarh, Punjab (February 04, 2013): There are certain reports in media that Badal Dal may contest assembly elections on certain Sikh-dominated areas in some states, other than Punjab where the party is in government for second consecutive term.

According to a news report published on the website of “The Economic Times”: “Punjab’s ruling Shiromani Akali Dal Badal President Sukhbir Singh Badal today said his party would seriously consider fielding candidates in assembly polls in Sikh-dominated areas of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh”.

Sukhbir Badal reportedly said that Badal Dal has already its Member in Haryana state assembly and it had contested seats in Delhi assembly elections and now the party would take a call that whether it should put up its candidates on those seats where Sikh population was in dominance ‘to fulfil the aspirations of Sikhs’.

According to Sukhbir Badal’s Badal Dal would fight the next assembly elections in Delhi on its own symbol.

“To a question of sharing of seats with BJP in Delhi assembly elections, Badal said SAD’s relationship with BJP was ‘an emotional and integral one which was far beyond the question of seats”, reads the news published by The Economic Times.

“To a question regarding the possibility of Narendra Modi being projected as BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Badal said SAD had been consistent on its line that it would go with the choice of NDA on this issue” it reads further.

It is notable that Badal Dal led by Sukhbir Singh Badal, son of Punjab’s chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, is believed to have collaborated with the Indian State compromising the political aspirations of the Sikh nation. Badal Dal has apparently abandoned the Panthic agenda that was aimed at security respectable solution to the situation of political subjugation of Sikhs in Indian unitary state system.
