Chandigarh/ Ludhiana: Days after arrest of seven persons on Saturday (Sept. 30), the Ludhiana police today arrested 4 more persons labelling them as “Babbar Khalsa International” militants. The counter intelligence wing and the Ludhiana Police claimed to have made these arrests in their joint action.
On Saturday the police claimed to have arrested Kuldip Singh alias Rimpy of Subhash Nagar Ludhiana, Jasvir Singh alias Jassa of Tarn Taran, Amanpreet Singh alias Amna of Bhigpur, Manpreet Singh of Sunalke village in Moga, Onkar Singh of Sultanwind Amritsar, Jugraj Singh of Khilchian Amritsar and a minor boy of Amritsar. None of them had any criminal record, notes media reports.
The identify of those arrested today was not reported in media sources at the time of writing this news.
The police has claimed to have made some recoveries on both occasions.
The media reports are terming it as a ‘huge success’ for the Punjab police however no substantial information as regards the alleged involvement of arrested persons in any offensive activities has come forth. A news report by a Punjabi TV News channel claimed that the police make a ‘stunning announcement’ about the arrested persons in coming days.
The police claims that arrested persons were planning over the social media networks to carry out disruptive activities in Punjab.
Meanwhile, a news report in a local pullout of Hindustan Times newspaper notes that neighbours of Kuldip Singh resident of Subhash Nagar Ludhiana, who was arrested on Saturday, have expressed shock over his arrest. A neighbour on the condition of anonymity said that Kuldip Singh may have been falsely implicated by the police, notes Hindustan Times.
