Khanna/ Ludhiana (August 16, 2014): In the much hyped incident of hurling shoe at Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal by a youth, the Punjab police have come up with a claim that the youth identified as Vikram Kumar alias Babbi is Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener of Dhanula unit in Barnala district.
Police are going to register a case against Vikram despite the CM “pardoned” him soon after the incident.
According to a Punjab TimeLine news, [s]ources revealed that the Punjab deputy chief minsier Sukhbir Singh Badal had been calling police officers to “get” the result at the earliest.
The issue gained political mileage after the it was revealed that Vikram Kumar was an activist of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Punjab police is now taking the issue “seriously” which is evident from the fact that the police called a press conference at 7.00 p.m. and a press note was released at 10.24 p.m. on August 15.
The DIG Ludhiana ranged Gurinder Singh Dhillon during a hurriedly called press conference at Khanna town, claimed that the ‘conspiracy’ of hurling shoe was drafted by five youngsters including Vikram.
According to a press release issued by District Public Relation Officer Ludhiana late Friday night, Ludhiana range DIG claimed, “The five youths planned to hurl the shoe at Punjab CM at Isru village during state level function in the memory of Goa martyrs. Vikram Kumar son of Hamir Kumar resident of Dhanaula in Barnala was the mastermind behind the incident”.
Vikram is resident of Haripura area of Sangrur city but started living in Dhanaula and working as AAP convener there. Father of two kids (six and eight), used to work at a cloth house but left the job six months ago, claimed the DIG.
According to the sources, Vikram was released from the spot after the incident but arrested after he indulged in giving statements to media persons.
According to preliminary investigations, we have found that Mohinderpal, Hardeep Singh Dhanaula, Indi Dhanaula and Taari are the other accomplices of Vikram, added the DIG.
“The five persons recorded a speech in mobile phones at 6.30 a.m. on August 15, which was to be sent to media, whatsapp, Facebook and Youtube”, he further claimed.
They attempted to come close to Punjab CM many a times but failed every time. They succeeded on August 15, 2014 to reach at VIP row near the stage and hurled the shoe at Punjab CM “unsuccessfully”, reads the press release.
