Anandpur Sahib: Various political parties held ‘political conferences’ at Anandpur Sahib on March 5 – second day of 3 day Holla-Mohalla celebrations. Whereas the faction ridden Congress party decided not to hold conference at Anandpur Sahib, the ruling party Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)’s conference received lesser attendance as compared to previous years.

On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s conference was a hit, as AAP venue had a huge gathering of volunteers and supporters.

AAP state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said the party had started preparations for the 2017 Assembly elections. “The massive turnout here (at Holla Mohalla conference of AAP) clearly shows that the AAP has emerged as a political force in the state”, he maintained.

Talking about Mission Vistaar (Mission expansion), Sucha Singh Chhotepur said “We have started the legwork for the next Assembly elections. We will eliminate corruption, drugs and other social evils from the state if voted to power”.

SAD (B) conference, this year, witnessed low attendance. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal heaped praises on the NDA government and blamed the previous UPA regime for various ills facing the country, particularly Punjab. Other SAD (B) leaders showered praise over CM Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal for their “service” to the people of Punjab.
