AAP declares Upkar Singh Sandhu as its Candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha by-poll

Chandigarh, January 15: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today declared Upkar Singh Sandhu as party Candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha by-poll. The announcement came barely after 48 hours he re-joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
Upkar Singh Sandhu (63) is former District Amritsar President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). He is also former Chairman of Punjab Energy Development Agency.

Upkar Singh Sandhu resigned from SAD in protest against the incidents of Sacrilege of Shri Guru Granth Sahib and failure of State Government to crack down the cases.
He had resigned from his post and the Badal Dal following the sacrilege incidents in October 2015. However, within two weeks he was back in the Badal Dal. However, he again left the SAD (Badal) and joined the Congress party. He then joined Aam Aadmi Party few days back.
