AAP’s first task will be to arrest and jail Bikram Majithia after 2017 polls: says Sanjay Singh

September 6, 2015 | By

Moga, Punjab: There is more than one year time for assembly elections in Punjab but the political atmosphere of the state is already charged. Aam Aadmi Party and Capt. Amarinder Singh group of the Congress are holding rallies across the state and the Badal government is reportedly preparing to make massive announcements to begin with their preparations for “election war”.

Aam Aadmi Party leadership have now started targeting specific leaders of the ruling party in furtherance to their attacks on the ruling party and the functioning of Punjab government.

AAP state in-charge Sanjay Singh, who is close to AAP’s central convenor Arvind Kejriwal, yesterday said that the AAP government, when formed in Punjab, would arrest Punjab revenue minister Bikram Majithia.

“The first task of the AAP would be to arrest Bikram Majithia and send him behind the bars for his (alleged) involvement in selling drugs in the state if the Aam Aadmi Party comes to power in Punjab in 2017”, Sanjay Singh said at Moga on Sept. 5.

Addressing a public meeting at Moga, the AAP leader said that people are unhappy with the SAD-BJP alliance government, which has failed to fulfil the promises made to them during the last assembly election. He criticised leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) in general and Sukhbir Badal, Bikram Majithia and Harsimrat Badal in particular.

As this is first such direct attack on Bikram Majithia who remains at the horns of controversy for one reason or the another, it will be interesting to see who from the Badal Dal responds to this attack and how?

Notably Bikram Majithia is facing massive allegations of patronising the drugs trade in Punjab with former cop-turned -drug lord Jagdish Bhola naming him as kingpin of drugs smuggling and trade in Punjab.
