Amritsar: The three “acting Jathedars”, appointed by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), United Akali Dal (UAD) and other Sikh groups during November 10 Sarbat Khalsa (2015), are expected to visit the three Takhts in Punjab from May 10 as part of their tour of the five Takhts.

This will be the second leg of their tour after having visited the Takht Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Mahrashtra on Wednesday and Takht Patna Sahib, Bihar on Saturday, notes the Indian Express (IE).

Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal and Bhai Amreek Singh Ajnala – who were appointed as acting Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Takht Damdama Sahib and Takht Kesgarh Sahib were framed by the Punjab police in a sedition case registered at Chattiwind police station.

Upon their release on bail in March, the trio began their visit to the five Takhts. Takht Hazur Sahib Jathedar Kulwant Singh honoured the trio with a robe of honour on Wednesday, while Charanjit Singh, a member of the Takht Patna Sahib Board, honoured them at the Takht Patna Sahib on Saturday.

“The Jathedars will visit the Akal Takht on May 10, Takht Kesgarh Sahib on May 13 and Takht Damdma Sahib on May 15. We started our tour from Hazur Sahib on Wednesday. All the Sikh Sangats out of Punjab have honoured the Jathedars,” said Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, leader of United Akali Dal.

Notably, these Jathedars have called another Sarbat Khalsa (2016) at Damdama Sahib on November 10, 2016.
