Amb Sahib/ Mohali, Punjab (December 06, 2013): In a late night emergency meeting held at Amb Sahib, Mohali the Sikh organizations decided to continue with the struggle initiated by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa who was forcibly removed by police from the site of his fast unto death on the intervening night of December 5 and 6, 2013.
It is notable that in a clear violation of Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr. P. C.) and Supreme Court of India (SCI) guidelines regarding arrest, the Punjab police personnel, in civil dresses, led by it’s senior officers without their uniforms forcibly took away Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.
As the police party was without uniforms, and many of them were reportedly in drunk condition, a scuffle took place between Sikhs and the police which soon turned into fight. Many Sikhs including Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, acting president of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani (ADPP) sustained some injuries in this incident.
As per information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) soon after the arrest of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh, the Sikh bodies held an emergency meeting and decided to continue with the struggle initiated by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh seeking release of Sikh prisoners who were not being released from various Jails despite serving the terms of their sentences.
Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema (Panch Pardhani) and Bhai R.P. Singh (Akhand Kirtani Jatha) told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that it was decided that the Sikh bodies and the Sikh sangat shall continue the hunger strike in the absence of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.
Five Sikhs namely – Bibi Manjot Kaur, Bhai Inderpal Singh, Bhai Jaswant Singh, Bhai Harpreet Singh and Bhai Hardeep Singh sit on the hunger strike around 1:30 am after performing the ardas.
Bhai R.P Singh said that five Sikhs shall be observing hunger strike on rotation basis for 24 hours. He said that an important meeting of the Sikh bodies shall soon take place to discuss the situation in wake of recent developments.
At the time of writing this news (2:20 am) the Sikh sangats had begun nitnem at the site of struggle (near Gurdwara Amb Sahib).
Sources revealed Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has been admitted to Civil Hospital of Phase VI, Mohali by the police.
