Ahutosh Case: Action unlikely on High Court’s order commanding cremation of controversial godman

Chandigarh: It appears that any action on High court’s order commanding cremation of controversial godmand and dera Noormehal head Ashutosh (real name Mahesh Kumar Jha) is unlikely for the time being as both parties, petitioners and respondent/s, have expressed dissatisfaction over yesterday’s decision.

Petitioners – Puran Singh, a former driver of Ashutosh, and Dilip Kumar Jha, who claims himself to be son of Ashutosh, as well as the respondent – Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan, have declare to file an appeal before a division bench of the High Court.
Notably Ashutosh had died on 29th January 2014 but the dera management put his body in a freezer maintaining that Ashutosh was in ‘deep meditation’. Puran Singh and Dilip Kumar Jha had field two separate petitions seeking cremation of Ashotosh’s dead body and CBI inquiry into his mysterious death. Dilip Kumar Jha was seeking DNA test to validate his claim that he was son of Ashutosh.
A single judge bench of High Court on Dec. 01 disposed off both petitions commanding administration to cremate Ashutosh with in a period of fifteen days. But the High Court did not command any inquiry regarding death of the controversial godman. Petitioners have expressed dissatisfaction over court’s decision.
On the other hand respondent/s DJSS or Dera Noormehal has also declared to challenge single judge’s bench before division bench of High Court.
In normal situation aggrieved parties get 30 days time to file appeal against any decision of a single judge High Court bench but in this case both parties are likely to move their appeals with in a week or so, as the High Court order commands cremation of dead body of Ashutosh with in fifteen days.
