‘Akali’ Conference in Canada proved bogus propaganda; Badal Dal leaders say it’s private dinner; Sikh bodies call back agitation

Toronto, Canada (September 12, 2013): In a press statement sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), the Canadian Sikh organizations – that had called upon the people to boycott the “Akali Conference” to be held by Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), have called back their agitation as the organizers have reportedly clarified on the “Ajj Di Awaaz” radio that no Akali Conference shall be held on September 12 in Toronto.

As per information Karan Ghuman clarified that 12 September gathering was a private program that was wrongfully called ‘Akali conference’ by Badal Dal’s Canada president Beant Singh Dhaliwal.

It is notable that taking a strong notice of Beant Singh Dhaliwal’s statement the Sikh organizations of Canada has issued a joint statement calling for the general boycott of the so-called ‘Akali conference’. The Sikh organizations had posed a number of questions upon the Badal Dal leaders and had demanded answers.

As per information the Sikh organizations had received considerable response to the boycott call. It is notable that Punjab government’s education minister Sikandar Singh Malooka, senior Badal Dal leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal’s advisor Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema are currently visiting Canada; as the deputy CM of Punjab and Badal Dal President Sukhbir Badal had to cancel his visit to Canada in wake of threat of litigation by Sikh groups for his alleged role in protecting violators of Human rights.

The press release by the Sikh organizations that reads that the Badal Dal leaders will have to face wrath of the Canadian Sikh diaspora, if they try to hold any public gatherings.
