Amritsar: Representative of various Sikh bodies have raised alarm against the decision of Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) to accommodate the activists of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) during Hindutva body’s India level camp in Amritsar.
ABVP is students wing of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and the Hindutva fountainhead Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).
Former SGPC secretary Manjit Singh Calcutta, Jaswant Singh Mann of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann), Baldev Singh Sirsa of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani (ADPP) slammed management of the Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) for allowing ABVP to hold it’s conference at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School in Amritsar. The school is managed by CKD.
Baldev Singh Sirsa said that RSS’ anti-Sikh and anti-minorities agenda is not hidden from any one and by facilitating ABVP’s conference the Chief Khalsa Diwan management is aligning with the anti-Sikh forces.
Manjit Singh Calcutta said in the past the SGPC had once permitted the ABVP to hold it’s camp at a Gurdwara Sahib in Anandpur Sahib but, he added, when the then SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra was hold about the Hindutva agenda of the ABVP, the SGPC had reverted it’s decision and ABVP was not allowed to hold camp at that Gurdwara Sahib.
Jaswant Singh Mann slammed CKD president Charanjit Singh Chadda for saffronizing the Sikh institution.
Baldev Singh Sirsa said that sincere sections of the Sikh nation are concerned over these developments as such type of activity could lead to saffronization of the Sikh institutions. He said that the RSS has the agenda of deputing and destroying uniqueness and distinct identity of the Sikhs to achieve their ‘evil’ designs of assimilation.
