June 24, 2019 | By

Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh today repeated various allegation against the Government of Canada and Sikh diaspora living in Canada. In his written statement (copy available with SSN), Punjab CM alleged that Canadian government was extending overt and covert support to the Khalistani Movement against India.

State issued by Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Punjab states that Amarinder Singh has warned Canada that Toronto’s failure to check anti-India activities being carried out from its soil would be detrimental to its own interests in the long run.

In his statement Amarinder Singh said that he had handed over lists of wanted persons to the Canadian PM Justin Trudeau during Trudeau’s India visit last year but ‘the lack of response from their government so far has exposed their intent’.

As per the statement Amarinder Singh has requested Narendra Modi government to mount global pressure on Canada and even to seek United Nations sanction against Canada.

It may be recalled that Amarinder Singh was barred from holding Indian election oriented rallies in Canada in 2016 as the Canadian law, under the Global Affairs Policy, prevents foreign governments and individuals from conducting election campaigns in Canada.
