Amaritsar, Punjab: Another Sikh youth body called ‘Neelian Faujan’ today approached Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh against ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ film. The representatives of Neelian Faujan urged Giani Gurbachan Singh to ensure that Nanak Shah Fakir film is not released.

Nanak Shah Fakir, a film produced by Harinder Sikka, is caught into controversy over personification of Sikh Guru- Guru Nanak Ji, Bebe Nanaki Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji.

On the other hand the SGPC has urged India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to install complete ban on release of Nanak Shah Fakir Film. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that the film was made in violation of basic tenets of the Sikh panth.

Meanwhile, students of Punjabi University today held a massive protest against proposed release of the controversial film. Hundreds of students blocked road traffic and submitted a memorandum to Punjab chief minster through Deputy Commissioner of Patiala.
