Faridkot: The Antim Ardas for Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, who was murdered on October 9, 2024, took place on October 27 at Gurdwara Sahib in his home village of Hari Nau, Faridkot district. Gurpreet Singh was killed by unidentified armed assailants, and his death has raised concerns within the Sikh activist community.
On October 17, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav announced the arrest of three suspects, linked to a “rakee module,” and named abroad based ‘gangster’ Arsh Dalla as the alleged mastermind behind Gurpreet Singh’s murder. The DGP also mentioned a potential connection to MP Amritpal Singh, currently held in Dibrugarh jail, though he provided no further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
The Antim Ardas event drew participation from Sikh leaders, activists, and local sangat, all paying tribute to Gurpreet Singh’s commitment to Sikh causes. Speakers at the gathering demanded justice for his family and expressed concerns over the increasing mistrust within Sikh circles, which they warned could endanger active members of the community.
Among those present were prominent Sikh leaders and activists, including former MP Simranjit Singh Mann, Bibi Charanjit Kaur (mother of Shaheed Avtar Singh Khanda), Gobind Singh Sandhu (SADA), Pal Singh France (Kaumi Insaaf Morcha), Balwinder Singh (Lok Adhikar Lehar), Sukhraj Singh (Behbal Kalan Morcha), Nobeljit Singh (Awaz-e-Kaum), Sukhjeet Singh Khose, Baba Bakhsish Singh, Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala (head of Damdami Taksal, Ajnala), Bhai Amarjit Singh Maryada, and founding members of Waris Punjab De, Jagdeep Singh Sarpanch and Husandeep Singh.
Also in attendance were USSF leader Jugraj Singh; Lovepreet Singh, also known as Toofan Singh, whose arrest previously led Amritpal Singh to march to the Ajnala police station; Bhai Hardeep Singh Mehraj; Davinder Singh Sekhon of Misl Satluj; Parmjeet Singh Gazi of Sikh Siyasat; Bhai Mandeep Singh Kubbe; Kavishar Pritpal Singh Bargari; Pardeep Singh Eyali of Sikh Youth Power of Punjab; Bhai Sukhwinder Singh of Satikar Sabha Haryana; Gursewak Singh Bhana; and Ranjit Singh Doraha.
