Chandigarh: Terming the decision of appointing a separate Administrator by Narindra Modi led government at Centre as anti-Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today strongly condemned the Modi’s act. Pointing towards ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)’s alliance with the BJP the Aam Aadmi Party demanded Badals should clarify their stand on the decision.

Head of the Campaign Committee of AAP and MP, Bhagwant Mann today said that appointment of an independent Administrator of Chandigarh means washing out of the Punjab’s valid stake on Chandigarh. Since, SAD (Badal) is alliance partner of NDA, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has no moral right to continue with his post.

“Either CM Badal should immediately resign from his post or snap political ties with NDA by withdrawn his daughter-in-law from Modi’s cabinet”, said AAP leader.

“Be it Crop Insurance, Centre’s anti-Punjab stand by NDA in Supreme Court on SYL issue and now this decision of the appointment of Administrator of Chandigarh, where was Harsimrat Kaur, when such anti-Punjab decisions were being taken?”, asked AAP leader.

Notably, there are reports in media that the central government has decided to appoint  appoint a ‘separate’ Administrator for the Union territory of Chandigarh. K J Alphons, 63, a retired bureaucrat from Kerala and a BJP executive committee member, is reportedly picked up to become the administrator of Chandigarh. The move would reversed a 32-year-old practice of the Punjab governor holding the additional charge of the Chandigarh.
