Arrested Briton Jaswant Singh Azad released from Kapurthala jail on bail after 1 year

Kapurthala, Punjab (November 1, 2013): It is learnt that Jaswant Singh Azad, a British citizen who was arrested in September 2012 was released from Model Jail, Kapurthala on November 1, 2013. He was released at around 8.30 PM.

Jaswant SIngh Azad was arrested by Jalandhar Police in case FIR No. 216, Dated 29-09-2012, under section 120B, 121, 121A IPC, 10, 13, 17, 18B, 20, 38, 39, 40 UAP Act, 25/54/59 Arms Act, PS Div. No. 8 Jallandhar and after a month Ludhiana police arrested him in case FIR No. 183, dated 21-09-2012. Ludhaina case was under section 120B, 121, 121A, 506 IPC, 17, 18, 18B, 20, 22, 38, 39, 40 UAP Act and 25/54/59 Arms Act, 3/4/5 Explosive Act, PS Div. No. 5 Ludhiana.

Jaswant Singh’s bail petition was allowed by Punjab and Haryana High Court few days back, and in pursuant to the court orders he has today released on bail.

Punjab police had made huge claims about the arrest of Jaswant Singh Azad while his wife had rebutted police allegations while maintaining that Jaswant Singh Azad was framed in false cases by the Punjab police.
