Chandigarh – We, the Sikh community represented by various Gurdwaras in New South Wales, Australia, collectively condemn the deeply troubling revelation of Indian government agents’ alleged involvement in the tragic killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, president of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, on Canadian soil. This revelation has come to light through a thorough investigation conducted by the Canadian Government. These recent findings from the Canadian Government’s investigation have exposed a disturbing and reprehensible act that undermines the very principles of justice, fairness, and respect for human life
We also wish to commend the Canadian Government for its swift and transparent investigation into this matter. Canada has a long-standing tradition of upholding the values of justice, diversity, and inclusivity, and their commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is both commendable and reassuring.
Recently, conspiracies against the Sikhs have been revealed in Australia as well. As Sikhs living in Australia, we believe in the importance of international cooperation and mutual respect among nations. We urge both the Indian and Canadian governments to work together to address this incident in a manner that respects the rule of law, human rights, and the principles of justice. We expect that those responsible for this heinous act, regardless of their affiliations, be held accountable under the law. Justice must prevail to ensure that such tragic incidents are not repeated, and the Sikh community, along with other minority communities, can live without fear and discrimination.
Additionally, we respectfully request that the Australian Government takes all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the Sikh community in Australia and Australian Sikhs living/visiting overseas. The safety and well-being of our community members are of paramount importance, and we believe that the Australian Government’s support in this matter is crucial.
The Sikh community worldwide stands united in its pursuit of justice and the upholding of human rights. We remain committed to fostering a spirit of unity, understanding, and cooperation among all people, and we will continue to monitor developments in this case closely.
