Meanwhile, the Mansa police also approached Faridkot magistrate to get transit remand of Baba Daduwal who was sent to jail by that time. The court told the Mansa police to raise their plea for remand of Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal before the local court at Mansa. Mansa police has reportedly re-opened a 2011 case against Daduwal.

It is notable that Baljit Singh Daduwal, a Sikh preacher, was recently nominated as member of newly formed Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC). He had led a group of supporters of HSGMC and took over control of a historic Gurdwara Sahib in Haryana for HSGMC. The concerned Gurdwara Sahib was previously under control of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC). It is pertinent to note that SGPC is currently controlled by Punjab’s ruling party Badal Dal.

Baljit Singh Daduwal, along with two others, was arrested by Faridkot police on August 21, while the SGPC, in the absence of Daduwal, took over control of a Gurdwara Sahib at Kotshamir (Bathinda), which was previously under control of Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal.

Faridkot police has re-opened a 2009 case against Daduwal while he has also been booked in a newly registered case under the Arms Act.
