Badal-Amarinder had Changed Names of Villages to Appease Dera Sauda Sirsa chief

Bathinda: Both incumbent Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and former CM Parkash Singh Badal during their respective tenure have been consistently appeasing and stirring the words of Dera Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is now convicted and imprisoned on rape charges.
Earlier, Captain Amarinder Singh’s government named the village Kaile Vandar as Naseebpura in order to please the Dera chief, and later the government of Parkash Singh Badal changed the name of the most popular village Durga Kotli Khurd to ‘Prem Kottali’.
During the year 2004-05, the Amarinder Singh Government named Naveen Bappura in the name of village Kale Wander of Bathinda named after the mother of Dera chief’s mother Naseeb Kaur. Gurtej Singh, the present Sarpanch of Nasibpura village, said that he does not know anything about the background of the name of the village, but he knows that when the name of the village was being changed, then the residents of Vandar tribe objected.

On the other hand Badal-BJP alliance government changed the name of Kotli Khurd, Bathinda’s village, two and a half years ago, to Prem Kotli. People said that for the longest time, Shah Satnam, the then chief of Dera Sirsa, came to Kotli Khurd, who said that the number of Premis in the village was high and that this village should be named Prem Kottali.
The appeasement tactics of both Amarinder Singh and Parkash Singh Badal are not limited to just name changing of the villages. After taking over as Punjab CM earlier this year Amarinder Singh ordered round the clock state police security to Dera Sauda Sirsa branches across Malwa region of Punjab. It is also said that it was after intense lobbying on the part of Amarinder Singh that he managed to garner votes through Dera Sirsa for the Punjab state Assembly election that too place earlier thus year.
Incidentally, it is a general talk of the town murmured in the circles of the Congress party that, it was the very support of the Dera Sauda Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim that catalyzed the Punjab congress to the victory in the state assembly election.
Moreover, as far as being subservient to Dera chief is concerned even Prakash Singh Badal is not behind, Both during 2012 and 2017 state assembly election Prakash Singh Badal along with his son Sukhbir Badal had consistently pleaded before Gurmeet Ram Rahim for electoral support in lieu of political patronage and legal immunity against any judicial action against him. Be it the case of raping his female followers or committing act of blasphemy by trying to impersonate Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Earlier, this year in desperate last minute bid during the concluding days of canvassing for the Punjab Assembly Election 2017. In an open violation of Akal Takht Sahib 2007 ‘Hukumnama’, Badal Dal organised an event in Sardulgarh town in which they openly declared that they would facilitate the Dera Sauda Sirsa to hold and promote ‘Naam Charcha‘ (a singing function of Dera supporters) in Punjab in lieu of electoral support for their respective candidates.
