Ludhiana/Delhi, Punjab/India (November 20, 2012): It is learnt that a delegation of the Badal Dal’s Delhi Unit held a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna on November 19, 2012 and demanded the arrest of Paramjit Singh Sarna. Sarna is President of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and also the President of Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi or Sarna Dal.

The delegation led by Badal Dal’s Delhi Unit president Manjeet Singh GK and vice president Onkar Singh others demanded directions to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to refrain from intervening in the religious affairs of Sikhs, and to ensure that elections to the DSGMC are held before the December 31 as directed by the Supreme Court.

It is notable that Badal Dal was able to delay the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) elections for more than two years and then before the Punjab’s last assembly elections the Party leadership was successful in getting favorable election timings decided by the Center (Government of India). But now when Sarna’s party in Delhi is attempting to repeat the same political game, Badal Dal is out-crying that it would amount to intervention by Congress party into religious matters of Sikhs.

Sincere Sikh circles have expressed worry over pity state of affairs in Sikh politics as main political parties of the Sikhs are running behind the power and it seems that they have abandoned the principled politics.
