Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 19, 2014): Badal Dal, led by Parkash Singh Badal and his clan, which also controls Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) seems to have decided to go for physical clash with the HSGPC, a newly formed body for managing affairs of Gurdwaras in Haryana.

Eight major Gurdwara Sahibs in Haryana were being “managed” by Amritsar based SGPC. But with the enactment of law forming HSGPC, the management of these Gurdwaras is expected to be taken over by HSGPC (ad hoc).

But the Badal Dal has declared that it won’t let anyone to take control of Gurdwaras. Recently in a statement SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that keys of “golaks” won’t be handed over to anybody else.

As per information the SGPC has deployed it’s “task-force” in all eight Gurdwaras in Haryana to physically challenge any bid to take over control of Gurdwaras in Haryana. SGPC officials and workers/ activists of Badal Dal have also started reaching at Haryana Gurdwaras.

With the notification of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara (Management) Act, 2014 the formation of HSGPC is almost complete and it is expected that the state government could soon form an ad hoc HSGPC and invite it to take control of the Gurdwaras.

Instead of accepting it’s failure to act as per expectations of the Sikhs in Haryana and address their genuine grievances that has resulted in division of the SGPC, the Badal Dal has adopted an arrogant attitude. This situation is turning volatile and dangerous.

In a written statement sent to the Sikh Siyasat News yesterday, the Dal Khalsa accused Badal Dal of being egoistic. Dal Khalsa chief H S Dhami said that egoistic Badals were preparing ground for physical clash with Haryana Sikhs.
