After Baghapurana, Now Ludhiana police want Remand of UK citizen Jagtar Singh Jaggi

Ludhiana: Soon after the Baghapurana police brought UK citizen Jagtar Singh Johal @ Jaggi to Faridkot jail, his custody was taken by Ludhiana police. Jagtar Singh Jaggi, who was on police remand with Baghapurana police since November 4, was committed to judicial custody today.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, who is handling the case of Jagtar Singh Jaggi as defence council told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that the Ludhiana police has arrested Jagtar Singh Jaggi in FIR no. FIR No. 218/17 registered at police station Salem Tabri in Ludhiana. The case pertains to killing of pastor Sultan Masih who was killed on July 15, 2017.

The Ludhiana police first brought Jagtar Singh Jaggi at the residence of Duty Magistrate, Ludhiana (at around 7:40 pm) where defence council Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur was already waiting. The duty magistrate refused to handle the case and directed the police to present Jagtar Singh Jaggi before the area magistrate.

The police went to Sarabha Nagar area to present Jaggi before the area magistrate at his/her residence. Defence lawyer followed the police van.

Speaking to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone Advocate Manjhpur said that he, as well as with police party who have the custody of Jaggi, was standing out of the residence of the magistrate but no one was opening the gate.

“Its’ already 8:45 pm and we are standing outside the main gate of magistrate residence since past hour but no one has opened the gate so far. The police personnel have rung the bells and even tried to reach out the magistrate but surprisingly the gates are still close”, he added.

“In any case, I am closely following the police party. Let us see, what comes next”, he added.
