Bathinda: Whereas leaders of various Sikh organizations opposed any proposed move to sack Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh from his post, Sikh preacher Baljit Singh Daduwal demanded removal of Jathedar Nanadgarh.

Talking to mediapersons on Jan. 15 Baljit Singh Daduwal said: “Jathedar Nandgarh has never taken up Panthic issues. He has the habit of going back on his word and has called off agitations on several occasions. He boycotted Gurpurb celebrations recently. He needs to be removed immediately.”

On the other hand, Gurmat Seva Leher head Bhai Panthpreet Singh, Panthak Coordination Committee chief Giani Kewal Singh, former Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Jachak, former Granthi of Darbar Sahib Bhai Harjit Singh and Bhai Kirpal Singh held a meeting at Takht Damdama Sahib on Jan. 15 and expressed support for the Giani Balwant Singh Nanadgarh.

“His removal will amount to degrading the post he holds. Jathedar Nandgarh has dared to speak on the importance of Nanakshahi calendar while other clergy men have succumbed to BJP pressure,” they said.
