London, England (July 01, 2012): As per inforamtion available with Sikh Siyasat, LIBERATION, a United Kingdom (UK) based and United Nations (UN) affiliated Human Rights Group held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 30th June in London. All the three motions, concerning the Sikhs, were put forward by Iqbal Singh of the “Panjabi Human Rights Internet” in association with Kesri Lehar.
The first strongly condemning the Union of Indian States government to stalling the due process of justice for the victims of the 1984 Sikhs massacre in India, and the second raising the deep concerns over the manipulation of the judiciary to stop the democratic process of the election of the members and officials to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (S.G.P.C. Management committee for Panjabi Sikh institutions constituted by the 1925 Colonial Act). And, centre government’s interference in the management of Panjabi Sikh institutions.
The third motion proposed to communicate immediately to the British Parliament, Home office, and British Foreign & Commonwealth Office to ban the visit, during the London Olympics 2012, of the former Congress MP Jagdish Tytler – the prime accused of 1984 Sikhs massacre and former DGP of Panjab K P S Gill, due to his gross violations of Human Rights.
It was agreed upon, in complete accord, to escalate the concerns with the British government and with the United Nations Human Rights Council. At the meeting, Liberation further agreed to support and join the Kesri Lehar delegation, when a petition of 100,000 plus signatures is to be presented to the UK Parliament.
At the beginning of this year, Kesri Lehar launched the most persuasive campaign to urging the British Parliament to hold a debate on ongoing and, disturbing atrocities that are being committed in the Republic of India, that, infringe the basic human rights of the minority communities, and to bring an end to the death penalty in India and to press for the release of Balwant Singh Rajoana who has already served 17 years in prison.
