Ban on Sadda Haq: Heated arguments expected in Supreme Court of India today

New Delhi, India (April 25, 2013): According to information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) the Supreme Court of India shall hold a hearing on a petition moved by the producers of the Sadda Haq Punjabi Movie against the ban imposed by Punjab, Haryana, Chandgarh, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir governments on the screening of the movie.

It is learnt that all the state governments that had banned the movie in their respective states had filed their replies on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

The Supreme Court of India is expected to resume the hear this matter today (April 25) in the afternoon session, after 2 PM.

“Aj Supreme court Vich Sadda Haq v/s Punjab and other states vich zordar arguments hon de sambavana hai,Case di sunvahi 2PM onwards hovege”, (Today strong argumentation is expected with Punjab and other states in the Supreme Court of India. The hearing in this case shall be held at 2 PM onwards), the Sadda Haq producers informed their fans through a Facebook update.

The Sadda Haq team has hoped for success in this case.

The move Sadda Haq is based on events of post-1984 to mid-1990s in Punjab and tells the untold story of the police atrocities suffered by the people of Punjab.

Punjab government had taken a plea that the screening of the movie could lead to law and order situation in Punjab. The movie was reportedly banned on the recommendations of high-ups in Punjab police who feared that events/incidents depicted in the movie could expose their black past.

The Supreme Court of India may pronounce it’s decision today in this matter.
