New Delhi, India (April 25, 2013): As per information the Supreme Court of India has appointed a panel of five persons, including Supreme Court lawyers, to review the Punjabi movie Sadda Haq.

This move came up during a hearing by the Supreme Court of India on a petition moved by Sadda Haq producers against the ban imposed by states governments of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Altamas Kabir and justices A. R. Dave and Vikramajit Sen said they will watch the film tomorrow morning at the apex court precincts in the presence of senior advocates Fali S. Nariman and Rajeev Dhavan before passing its order.

The bench said two women advocates – Indira Jaising, who is the Additional Solicitor General, and senior advocate Rebecca John – would also be present during the screening of the film.

It said they would be assisting the bench in the capacity of amicus curiae and the advocates for both sides would be at liberty to be present during the screening of the film.

On April 11, the court had issued notices to Delhi and Punjab governments and the Union Territory of Chandigarh and sought their responses on a plea challenging the ban imposed by them on screening of the film.

It is expected that the Supreme Court of India will decide on the fate of the movie after going through the report.

It is notable that all the respective governments which have banned the movie in their respective states had filed their replies on April 23, 2013.
