London: Federation of Sikh Organisation (UK) has announced to hold a protest-demonstration on May 15 in front of office of Consulate General of India in Birmingham. The purpose of demonstration is to show support for fasting Sikh activists Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, who is demanding release of Sikh political prisoners, who remain jailed in India even after having completed their minimum mandatory jail terms.
FSO leaders, who held an urgent meeting at Guru Nanak Gurudwara Sahib in Smethwick, bitterly criticised the Indian state for it’s failure to take appropriate steps for the release for concerned Sikh political prisoners.
A press release by FSO says that the it will be a peaceful protest aimed at raising voice against the ‘illegal detention’ of Sikh political prisoners who are eligible to be granted premature release.
The meeting was attended by Bhai Amrik Singh Gill (Sikh Federation, UK), Bhai Kuldeep Singh Chahedu, Bhai Balwinder Singh Chahedu of Dharam Yudh Jatha, Bhai Charan Singh, Bhai Kulwant Singh Dhesi (British Sikh Council), Bhai Loveshinder Singh Dalewal, Bhai Avtar Singh Sanghera, Bhai Raghbir Singh (International Panthik Dal), Bhai Gurdial Singh Atwal (Shiromani Akali Dal, Amritsar), Bhai Malkit Singh Tehing (President, Gurudwara Management Committee) and Bhai Gurmej Singh Gill besides others.
