Beadbi suspect thrashed by in Moga village, Booked under 295A IPC

Moga: A person named Harpreet Singh was reportedly beaten up by villagers after he was suspected of tearing pages of a Gurbani Gutka and throwing these on the outskirts of Daulatpura Niwan village in the Moga district yesterday.

As per media reports Harpreet is also a resident of the village who was taken into custody by the police. The police reportedly admitted him to the district hospital under tight security.

Harpreet has been booked under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of Resham Singh, a member of the Damdami Taksal.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that Harpreet allegedly tore up the pages of Gutka Sahib and threw these on the Mahesari road near a dera in the morning. Some people from the dera spotted him and started beating him up. Resham Singh Khukhrana, a member of the Sant Samaj, reached the spot soon after the incident. He also recorded his statement with the police”, notes The Tribune.

Meanwhile, Harpreet Singh alleged that he and Resham Singh had an old enmity, due to which he had been framed.
