As per information extended to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) by Manpreet Singh Khalsa from Delhi, Bhai Hawara and Bhai Bheora have urged all Sikh organizations, including various factions of Sant Samaj, Damdami Taksal, Sikh Students Federation, and religious, social and political organizations, to attend the Ardas Samagam to be held at Akal Takht Sahib in the memory of Bhai Dilawar Singh on August 31.

They have also appealed to the Sikh diaspora to use all meant such as internet etc. to intimate the masses about the martyrdom day, so that Bhai Dilawar Singh’s sacrifice could be marked.

It is notable that Bhai Hawara and Bheora are currently confined in Tihar Jail of Delhi; and undergoing the sentence pronounced by Indian courts in Punjab CM Beant Singh’s assassination (1995) case. Bhai Dilwar Singh had served as human bomb in this assassination.

CM Beant Singh’s tyrant regime had unleashed the region of state terror on civilian Sikh population in Punjab. Many human rights reports have documented the fact that Sikh youth, family members and sympathisers of Sikh militants were being subjected to enforced disappearances. The practise was highly systematic and widespread; and thousands were secretly cremated after being killed in fake encounters. This is situation, out of existential concerns, some Sikh youth assassinated CM Beant Singh.

Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who was awarded death sentence in the CM assassination case, did not defended himself in the Indian courts. He openly admitted his involvement in the assassination and made it clear that they had no personal enmity against CM Beant Singh and had acted under existential concerns. He is currently lodged in Central Jail, Patiala.

It must be remembered the Akal Takht Sahib, supreme Sikh authority, has recognized Bhai Dilawar Singh as a “national Sikh martyr”, while Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana was endowed the title of “living martyr”. Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara has been addressed as “national warrior” at Akal Takht Sahib.
