Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara Acquitted in 1995 Arms Recovery Case

Ludhiana: The court of Ludhiana’s Chief Judicial Magistrate Suresh Kumar Goyal today acquitted Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara in a 1995 Arms recovery case.

It is notable that the court of Varinder Kumar, Junior Magistrate First Class (JMIC) had convicted Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara in this case on April 9 and the case was referred to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate on April 13 for granting sentence of more than 3 years of imprisonment.

This case case FIR No. 139 dated 30 December 1995 registered at police station Kotwali Ludhiana was related to recovery of an AK56 rifle and fifty cartridges.

During today’s hearing before the court of CJM, the defense counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told the court that the lower court had convicted Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara on wrong facts. After hearing the arguments the court acquitted Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara in this case.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was presented in the court through video conferencing from Tihar Jail in Delhi.
