Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara acquitted in 27 years old Ropar Case

Ropar/ Chandigarh: Sikh political prisoner Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was acquitted in an Arms Act case by a local court in Ropar yesterday.

Additional Sessions Judge Sunita Kumari Sharma acquitted Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara on the basis of lack of evidence in a 27 years old case.

On October 9, 1988, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was booked for allegedly hiding a .32 bore pistol in Mana Majra village near Chamkaur Sahib. The weapon was allegedly recovered during investigation into a murder case. Police had filed charges under Arms Act and TADA in this case.

Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara is presently lodged in Tihar Jail, Delhi. He was produced before the court yesterday through video conferencing.
