BJP wins 2 out of 3 seats contested in Punjab; Arun Jaitly lost Amritsar seat with more than 1 lakh votes

Hoshiarpur, Punjab (May 16, 2014): Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) that has secured hug victory in Indian Parliamentary Elections 2014 has won 2 out of 3 seats contested in Punjab. BJP contested 3 seat in Punjab whereas it’s ruling ally Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) contested remaining 10 seats.

Vijay Sample secured 3,46,643 votes and won with a margin of 13,582 votes. Congress candidate Mohinder Singh Kaypee secured 3,33,061 votes, where as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Yamini Gomer secured 2,13,388 votes.

Vinod Khanna secured 4,82,255 votes and defeated Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa with a margin of 1,36,065 votes. Bajwa secured 3,46,190 votes.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Sucha Singh Chhotepur secured 1,73,376 votes for third place.

BJP’s senior leader Arun Jaitley lost the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat to Captain Amrinder Singh at a margin of 1,02,770 votes. Amrinder Singh secured 4,82,876 votes whereas Arun Jaitly secured 3,80,106 votes.
