New Delhi, India (August 26, 2014): Narendra Modi led BJP government is set to go ahead with it’s “mission governors”, aimed at appointing it’s “own” constitutional heads in states. BJP that recently appoined 6 governors in different states is all set to name four more new governors. Meanwhile there are speculation that former Delhi CM and Kerala’s governor Sheila Dikshit may resign from the post.

As per media reports Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Goa — whose governors have either completed their tenure or were told to resign — would soon get new governors.

Maharashtra governor K. Sankaranarayanan resigned recently following the Modi government’s decision to transfer him to Mizoram. While Rajasthan governor Margaret Alva and Karnataka’s H.R. Bhardwaj completed their terms. Bharat Wanchoo has resigned as governor of Goa after being asked to quit.

The first among the hopefuls in the coming round of appointments is former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh who could be sent to Maharashtra or Rajasthan, media reports speculate. The other potential candidates include V.K. Malhotra, Lalji Tandon and “some new faces”.

Previous appointments by BJP government were carried after the names were “cleared” by Hindutva fountainhead RSS.

Recently Uttrakhand governor Aziz Qureshi dragged Narendra Modi government to the Supreme Court of India (SCI) challenging government’s move directing him to quit.
