Fatehgarh Sahib (July 19, 2010): Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) has accused the Union and Punjab Governments for playing a political game with Sikhs on the issue of so-called “black list”. Harpal Singh Cheema, General Secretary of Panch Pardhani, whose name also figures in ‘black list’ has raised doubts that the Indian State’s is still keeping a ‘secret black list’ of Sikhs; as the named figured out in list sent by Ministry of Home Affairs to Punjab Government did not include names of at least two persons who were recently denied entry to Punjab and Delhi.
He informed that in January 2009 Lakhwinder Singh, a Canadian citizen, was sent back from Raja Sanhsi Airport, Amritsar and in January 2010 one Shubhneet Kaur, a citizen of New Zealand, was sent back along with her minor Son, from Delhi Airport.
“Both, Lakhwinder and Subhneet, were denied entry despite possessing a valid visa, granted by Indian High Commissions of their respective countries. On their arrival Authorities in Indian informed them that they were “black listed” by the Government of India, thus can not enter in this country.” informed Cheema. “Both were frequent in visiting their home-land Punjab, before they were denied entry.” he added.
“Just take our case; I and Kulbir Singh Barapind (another senior leader of Panch Pardhani) are residing in Punjab since long but we still cannot enter India as per Union records.” said Cheema, who questioned that how the Government can keep anyone, who is already brought back to this country through extradition, in ‘no entry list’?
On asked about his views regarding the recent process of review by the Government, he said that: “As long as the Government is keeping secret black lists; criteria followed by the State in making these lists is not specified and, over all, until the core issues are not deals with sincerely by the Government, these reviews possess no meaning for Sikhs.
