Amritsar, Punjab (February 23, 2013): All India Sikh Students Federation president Karnail Singh Peermohammad said in a statement that Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) officials should have shown the remains of the brutality of Indian authorities during Operation Bluestar to British Prime Minister David Cameron, Peer Mohd added that the Army operation was committed by country’s own government while Jallianwala Bagh was still a blunder of British government.

It is notable that Operation Bluestar was the code-name of June 1984 attack on various Sikh Gurudwaras by Indian army and thousands of innocent pilgrims were killed in this attack.

The AISSF president has maintained that the attack was a conspiracy of the Indian government against the Sikh community, and Gen VK Singh’s statement confirmed it.

“Cameron should have been made aware of the hypocrite face of the Indian government, and discriminatory attitude towards the religious minorities.”, he added.

AISSF president further added that Cameron should have also been shown the site of Bluestar Memorial where the construction is taking place inside the Golden Temple complex but as Shiromani Akali Dal is a political ally of BJP, it does not pay any heed to the feelings of the Sikh community.

“Cameron’s visit to Amritsar was a golden chance for SGPC to raise voice for the Sikh community. It’s high time for Sikh leadership to show solidarity for Prof Davinderpal Bhullar and Balwant Singh Rajoana to stay their execution indefinitely.”
