London: As per the media reports emanating from England, PM Theresa May will issue officially notify the other 27 member countries of the European union that it will trigger the ‘article 50’ that is the process of divorcing from the union on Wednesday next week.
This statement from the Prime Minister’s office came after Queen Elizabeth II last week on Tuesday (15th March) granted her royal assent to Theresa May so as to go ahead and trigger the process of Brexit. On the other hand Downing Street told the media that she would write a letter to the European Council, adding that it hoped negotiations on the terms of exit and future relations could then begin as quickly as possible.
An EU spokesman said it was “ready and waiting” for the letter.
The official spokesman to the PM purportedly ejected reports an early election may be held, saying: “It’s not going to happen.”
Under the Article 50 process, talks on the terms of exit and future relations are not allowed until the UK formally tells the EU it is leaving. If the process goes on as per the official schedule the formalities related to Brexit may conclude by March 2019.
