Canada Creates History again by Hoisting the Nishan Sahib on Parliament Grounds

Ottawa, Canada (Manjit Singh): The Canadian Parliament recognized the contributions of Sikhs for Canadian society by hoisting the Nishan Sahib at the parliament grounds on April 03 morning.

The simple but historic landmark event took place at around 11:00 am on April 3 among Canadian citizens, MP’s and ministers from all over Canada. Canada has once again shown and led by example of all encompassing and encouraging the multicultural society it is today.

Sikhs worldwide are known for their values and Canada is no different. The Sikhs migrated to Canada about 150 years ago and today with their hard work and sheer determination have been able to go as far as being cabinet ministers and the defence minister of Canada.

Today’s ceremony is one of the many celebrations for the Sikh Heritage Month kick off that took off yesterday at the Ottawa City Hall.
