Capt Amarinder Gets Backing from Pro-Hindutva Outfit Rashtriya Sikh Sangat

March 21, 2017 | By

NewDelhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) offshoot and its frontman in Punjab the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (RSS) has on  Monday has announced its ‘unconditional’ support for Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The general secretary of the outfit Avtar Singh Shastri while interacting with the media reportedly said “we congratulate Capt Amarinder Singh on becoming chief minister and pray for his good health so he renders service to the people of Punjab.”

The Rashtriya Sikh Sangat further maintained that the syncretic culture, progress with peace and social amity will flourish under Capt Amarinder Singh stewardship. The support to Capt Amarinder from one of the pro Hindutva outfit may miff the SAD (Badal)-BJP both partners in the NDA government.

Avtar Shastri further claimed that “the RSS did not discriminate against any political party, It is not guided by the party politics. It favours peace, harmony, development and harmony of the people.

The statement of support given by the outfit  in the favour of a congress party CM can seen from the fact that Capt Amarinder Singh during his electoral campaign has articulated strong pro Hindutva rhetoric while countering his political rivals from both AAP and SAD (Badal), which is also considered on of the prime factor of sweeping away the state assembly elections.

Moreover in the past the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat was declared an ‘anti-Sikh outfit’ by Akal Takht Sahib. A Sandesh (message) issued from Akal Takht Sahib under the signatures of five Sikh Jathedars had clarified that activities of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat as well as the RSS were harmful for the Sikh nation, thus both these controversial bodies were declared ‘anti-Sikh’.

Apparently, after Narinder Modi lead BJP government came to power at the center in 2014 a sudden influx in the RSS backed anti Sikh activities has been witnessed in Punjab. The Hindutva fountainhead has revived it’s controversial wing called Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (also called RSS). Rashtriya Sikh Sangat was formed by the Sangh to conduct Hindutva activities while projecting Sikh faces and thereby execute it’s plans to secure assimilation of Sikhs to Hindutva fold.
