Case against Sajjan Kumar – Victims oppose plea to drop witnesses

New Delhi, India (October 08, 2013): Victims in a case related to November 1984 massacre of Sikhs opposed (on Oct. 07) Congress leader Sajjan Kumar’s plea to drop nine CBI witnesses, saying they are “very important” and leaving them out will be “miscarriage of justice”.

“The CBI had filed a consolidated charge-sheet of three separate FIRs and the nine prosecution witnesses, who are very important in related matter, cannot be dropped,” the victims of the massacre have reportedly pleaded through their counsel.
According to information Advocate H.S. Phoolka made his submission before district judge JR Aryan during hearing on a plea by Kumar and three other accused who had sought removal of the agency’s witnesses claiming they were “irrelevant”.
Meanwhile, the CBI filed its response on applications of accused Sajjan Kumar and others seeking summoning of records of two other cases which have already been decided.
It is learnt that Advocate H.S. Phoolka also informed the court that there are a number of appeals pending before the Delhi high court and in these circumstances the accused can get the certified copy of the documents they required.
As per information the arguments remained inconclusive and will continue on October 19, 2013.
It is notable that thousands of innocent Sikhs were brutally murdered in a planned genocidal violence against the Sikhs during November 1984. Various massacres of Sikhs were carried in various parts of India, worst of which were in Delhi where more than three thousand Sikhs were killed and more than fifty thousands were displaced. These massacres were planned and executed by high ups in the contemporary Congress regime facilitated by the state machinery/administration.
The justice remains denied to the victims of 1984, that is considered to be one of the worst massacres of the post-1947 India. Culprits, including Sajjan Kumar, has enjoyed the patronage and protection of the state for past three decades which has eventually paralysed the Indian judicial system while the victims and ending up with their hope to see justice.
