Clash Broke-out in Rudrapur After Cops Misbehaved with Sikh Truck Driver

Rudrapur, Uttrakhand: As per reports a clash broke out between cops and a group of Sikhs after some police personnel misbehaved with a Sikh truck driver.

A Sikh truck driver named Satnam Singh, 39, was stopped by cops on Friday in Rudrapur town of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttrakhand for entering into no-entry zone. Cops fined him for committing traffic offence after which the driver asked them to let him go forward but cops insisted that he should return back. This led to verbal arguments which turned into physical browl after cops alleged abused Satnam Singh.

The matter turned serious after Satnam Singh’s turban went off in browl with cops. Learning about this Sikh youths gathered in support of Satnam Singh which led to intense clash between Sikhs and cops. The cops called more police force and resorted to lathicharge and arrested Satnam Singh.

Local Sikhs accused cops of misbehaving with Satnam Singh and disrespecting his turban. They demanded release of Satnam Singh.

As per information the police have registered a case against Satnam Singh on various counts, including for allegedly preventing public servants from discharging their duties.

Local sources told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that Satnam Singh was later released on bail. They said that local cops had got angry over the release of Satnam Singh and they staged a protest on Saturday.

The situation is normal today, a local Sikh from Rudrapur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone.
